Here is a freshman Ryan at the football game.

Paul and Ryan met at BYU in the fall of 1997. The fateful meeting can be accredited to a mutual friend, Paul Benson, and his love of cheesesticks. After Paul and Ryan met they started seeing each other around campus (mainly in the accursed Cougareat) and eventually decided to actually hang out. The first hanging out occurred at none other than the beloved Bombay House on University Avenue. Curry was in the air, but love was not. Ryan and Paul remained friends the entire freshman year. Although Ryan's interest in Paul was piqued, she knew he didn't want to date anyone and therefore the two simply enjoyed eating a lot of greasy food and avoiding responsibility together.

Here is a missionary Paul enjoying the statues and cats of Italy.

After freshman year, Paul went to Italy to serve as a missionary for the LDS church. Although Ryan had many great friends with whom she had a fabulous time, she still missed Paul. Paul and Ryan wrote letters, and soon Paul realized he had a lot more in common with Ryan than he thought. Letters turned into love letters, and by the time Paul reached the end of his mission, Paul and Ryan decided they better date.

A couple months into their dating relationship, Paul and Ryan talked about getting married and decided that it was a good thing. Paul wanted the ring and the proposal to be a surprise. All he told Ryan was that she needed to get Saturday, October 14, 2000, off work from her lovely job at the pastry kitchen. She did just that and Paul surprised Ryan with a trip to San Francisco. He proposed to her on a pier overlooking the Bay Bridge.

Ryan and Paul were married in the Bountiful temple on December 29, 2000. They still think marriage is a good thing.
